OBJECTIVE:
Speakaboos is seeking a talented engineer as architect and lead developer
in our New York, NY office.

COMPANY:
Speakaboos (www.speakaboos.com) brings classic children's entertainment
into a digital world. Beloved characters and treasured stories are given
new life through amazing celebrity performances, beautiful illustrations,
and original music. At Speakaboos, children develop literacy skills while
learning about technology in a safe and fun environment. First iPhone app,
Stories2Go is now available in the iTunes app store.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Architecting and coding core Speakaboos platform in PHP/MySQL using MVC
framework (Zend framework).
* Architecting, coding, and managing the development of web applications
(i.e. video players, flash applications, etc.)
* Recommending and using open-source technologies to efficiently build
applications.
* Building engineering team.
* Managing off-shore / contract development resources is critical.
* Assisting Product Manager in development of specification documents.
* Manage inter-company dependencies and priorities as they relate to the
Product Roadmap and Timeline.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* At least 5 years experience building scalable web applications in
programs such as PHP using MVC framework (Zend Framework), MySQL
* Solid experience with cross-platform, browser compliant HTML and CSS
(HTML5 and CSS3), Javascript, AJAX, JSON, XML, and JQUERY.
* Strong sense of usability, and can create clean “release-ready” pages
with limited designer support.
* Strong attention paid to browser consistency, user-experience, and
strict implementation of design and UI specs.
* Prior experience in digital media is a plus.


REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in work experience.
* Minimum of 5 years of software development experience. Startup
experience is a plus!
* Extremely organized & detail oriented.
* Good team player & motivator.
* Ability to plan ahead and meet appropriate deadlines.
* Proactive in identifying inefficiencies in development pipeline and
proposing sensible solutions.
