Some of the cheaper ones such as those from Thawte require an additional level of server configuration because browsers are not configured to trust it automatically. You sort of have to configure apache to verify the legitimacy of the certificate authority itself before verifying that the certificate is authentic.
There's plenty of docs on how to do this though. It's not a big problem
