Try 'maxlength' instead.
And try front-end at lists.nyphp.org - I hear those guys are really cool.

Subject: [nycphp-talk] html question
I am trying to get the "maxsize" attribute to work in the input tag, but am having problems. IE 6 appears to ignore it.
For example in,
<input type="text" name="phone" size="15" maxsize="15">
the text box allows input of 16 or more characters. Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Is there a way to work around it?
