I would write a basic php script - one page for adding/deleting/editing the gigs, and one for displaying. the one for adding/deleting/editing is password protected.
if there is a mysql database, you would just have a timestamp for the date/time of the gig, a length of time field (if he wants), the name of the gig (if any) and where he is playing, and maybe a description field to say what hes playing or any notes he wants to share with the people, say setlists.
something like this would be very easy to write, if they have php and mysql on the server. im sure it would be easy if there is just php.

Subject: [nycphp-talk] Q) seeking an End User feature...
I'd like to add a feature to a site for a user (a musician) to be able to
easily update a list of his upcoming gigs on one of the pages on his site.
He's pretty unsophisticated when it comes to computers. Are there any open
source packages that are simple to setup and very simple to use that do this
kind of thing?
Thanks
-Bill
