This question may require some help off the list, because I seem to need a
bit of spoon-feeding here.

I need to get this server running such that I can call file_get_contents
over https to a remote server. Server is running Apache2.0.48 and PHP
4.3.4(cli) and does not have mod_openssl or mod_php installed.

So the real question is, if I get mod_openssl installed in Apache, will PHP
magically register https as a stream type?
