Thanks! This is a good thing to remember.

As it turns out, I *think* the problem is that user that is trying to scp
('www') cannot use the private key that I created without providing a
passphrase.

I'm not *positive* that this was the problem, but I ran around the problem by
re-writing some of the script and calling the script from root's cron job.
