Correct - .htaccess.
I'm afraid that the support level at earthlink isn't sufficient enough to
trouble shoot or go any further. Thanks everyone for your input. Time for
plan B.

Just to be clear, your file is named .htaccess, not htaccess, right? That
may seem like a silly question, but it seemed worth asking.
