Firstly, let me say I am very hesitant to say
anything here.
But since you said you would like to hear
*any* advice....
If I understand your situation, it seems that
the file system is still intact but you have
managed to clobber all the device drivers
(or at least the CD driver)
If you could boot from a floppy disk,
it might turn out that it would
put back some device drivers.
Once you have sort of manually bootstrapped
your system up, you could try and take it from
there ...
