>Who are we?
We are a start-up of 4 people building an internet business in
financial services. I am an IIT (India) and MIT grad (PhD in Chemical
Engineering, MBA at Sloan), worked with Mckinsey after that, and am
now leading this internet business. Besides myself there are 3 other
people -on the team a #2 ranked analyst, who covered big ticker stocks
Google, Yahoo etc. at JPMorgan, an analyst from UBS I-Banking, and a
technology expert who is an IIT (India) graduate with 8+ years of
experience in different technology functional roles in US.
>What is the present status of the venture?
This is an internet startup in financial services. If you love being
part of an early team, building a company from scratch, this should
excite you.
Since I left Mckinsey have done extensive diligence, laid out a solid
plan, created a structural prototype and comleted key IP working with
a top Boston law-firm. Present focus includes working on the product/
prototype and finding the right investment partners.
>What is the position about/ what is the opportunity?
If you want to be an internet entrepreneur / or want to do it again,
this is a dream job.
You will play a key role in defining and building the technology
capability of this internet startup. In addition, the incoming member
will help with all parts of the venture, including business strategy,
pitch to investors. The role will evolve quickly as the business
grows, with significant flexibility to assume different positions.
This is a great opportunity for someone who would be excited about
joining a business that could be worth a few billion dollars in the 5
year timeframe.
>Location and Compensation
Location is flexible initially. A competitive base salary post-funding
and equity bonus. I have started talking to VCs and expect to be
funded in a few months.
>What experience/ interests will be useful?
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, EE or engineering, other related
fields. A systems-level thinking will be valuable. Knowledge or
exposure to web-based languages, database programming, browser side,
and server side scripting, example, some of Java, HTML/ JAVASCRIPT,
CSS, AJAX, ASP, SQL, and J2EE environment will be useful. Additional
experience with start-ups, especially in internet/technology area,
will be great. Experience with UI design, working with large
distributed system environment , implementation of algos, and
web-based implementation issues will also be assets.
